Role Description The Director of Nursing is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Edenton, NC, responsible for overseeing all clinical nursing operations within the skilled nursing community. This role leads and supports nursing staff, ensures high-quality resident care, and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Daily responsibilities include coordinating resident care plans, monitoring clinical outcomes, managing staffing and scheduling, and reinforcing infection control and safety protocols. The Director of Nursing collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams, including therapy and hospice partners, to optimize resident outcomes and experiences. Additional duties include mentoring team members, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to policy development and performance reviews.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Nursing Management and leadership skills, including staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management.
- Candidates should possess expertise in Nursing and Long-term Care, with a focus on person-centered care in skilled nursing or similar settings.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Medicine and clinical standards relevant to geriatric and post-acute care populations.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in Infection Control practices, including surveillance, prevention, and regulatory compliance.
- Current RN license in the state of North Carolina (or eligibility for licensure) is required.
- Previous experience as a Director of Nursing or nursing leadership in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to engage residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, including state survey processes and quality measures, and experience with electronic health records.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive quality improvement initiatives, and foster an inclusive, supportive work culture.
- BSN or higher degree in Nursing is preferred; relevant certifications in gerontology, long-term care, or leadership are beneficial.
