Who Are We?
Parks and Recreation (DPR) is a Department of Prince William County. We provide a broad range of recreation and leisure services and amenities to meet the changing needs of the County's growing and diverse population. The Department manages more than 4,000 acres of parkland and recreational facilities including more than 50 parks, two water parks, two fitness & aquatic centers, two community centers, four outdoor pools, three 18-hole golf courses, two marinas, and nearly 200 athletic fields.
About This Role:
This Full-Time Grounds Worker position is responsible for maintaining grounds and amenities. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines. Incumbents maintain the grounds at County parks, buildings, and schools. Responsibilities may include turf maintenance, athletic field maintenance, landscape maintenance and park amenity maintenance. This position may occasionally require the operation of County vehicles to transport tools, materials, and personnel to various worksites.

- Experience working with a team.
- Experience working outdoors and in adverse weather conditions.
- Experience working a varied schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Prior experience in grounds maintenance work.
- Prior experience operating mowing equipment.
- Prior experience in maintaining park amenity and landscape.
- Requires a valid driver's license
- Requires the passing of a pre-employment physical examination
- Must pass background check
- Must be at least 18 years of age
This is a 7-day per week operation. The typical workday is 7.5 hours, Monday-Friday with some rotating weekend requirements. Schedule is generally 7am-3pm with slight variations for start and stop times.
Hiring Salary:
$19.41/hour
