About This Role:
- Provide excellent customer service at an integrated service desk answering patron inquiries and conducting reference interviews.
- Help patrons with technology issues, locate materials, and promote library services and programs.
- Assist in the digital preservation lab for programs and appointments.
- Interpret and explain library policy and procedures to patrons.
- Maintain an assigned section of the library collection.
- Work as a Passport Agent to process passports.
- Pulls hold requests, shelve materials, assist with circulation reports.
- Attending training and meetings as necessary.
- Provide assistance to library outreach events in the community.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Preferences:
Resolving patron inquiries and issues
Experience interpreting policy and procedure
Experience digitizing photos, film, and other media
Experience troubleshooting technology (computers, printer, copier, fax)
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and library or inventory software.
Experience locating materials and offer suggestions for materials or services
Creating Displays
Experience planning and presenting programs
Collection or inventory maintenance
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position at Central Library which requires flexibility including evenings and weekends. The hours of operation are Monday – Wednesday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday – Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Closed on Sunday. This position will require one evening per week and rotating Saturdays.
Hiring Salary Range:
$21.14 – 26.65 / hourly
