The Clinical Behavioral Health Program Case Management program serves adults who present with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. We are seeking qualified applicants to fill our full-time Therapist II (Clinical Services Caseworker) position. As the Therapist II in this position, successful candidates will need to be comfortable providing services both in the office and in the community and have experience in the delivery of case management and treatment services to individuals who have been diagnosed with serious mental illness and co-occurring conditions. You will need to be comfortable working with people with varying functional levels and know mental health and substance use treatment needs, crisis assessment, treatment planning, and recovery model practices. In this position, you will need to collaborate successfully with outside providers including probation officers and other collateral agencies. The successful Therapist II we are looking for will have a strong desire to build relationships, a positive attitude, and a commitment to leadership and teamwork.

This position qualifies for a hiring bonus of $5,000. This bonus will be paid in two equal installments. The first installment of $2,500 will be paid after you have completed 90 days of employment. The final $2,500 installment will be disbursed upon successful completion of the probationary period.
ABOUT THIS ROLE:
- Maintains a caseload of 25-35 clients
- Provides mental health, substance use and co-occurring case management to adult clients.
- Forensic-focused case management services to include assessment, linkage and coordination with other service providers.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments, formulating diagnosis and developing treatment plans for adults with varying degrees of challenges.
- Provides crisis intervention for clients, including those at high risk for suicide/homicide-under supervisory guidance.
- Evaluates risk and potential need for hospitalization.
- Maintains clinical records according to agency policies and procedures.
- Will complete written reports to outside agencies and public agencies. Consults and collaborates with other professionals and agencies, including Medicaid, probation, social services, physicians, psychiatrists and private providers.
- Prepares and presents case presentations for clinical supervision.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities. All services are provided under supervisory guidance.
- Participate in supportive counseling and case management in the community or in the office.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related behavioral science field.
- Must currently possess an LCSW or LPC; or be eligible to obtain an LCSW or LPC in the Commonwealth of Virginia within 2 years of hire.
- 1 year of related experience providing services to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience providing case management, individual/group therapy services in a human services environment
- Experience providing therapeutic services and case management to adults with mental health/serious mental illness, substance use, and co-occurring disorders
- Experience with crisis intervention in an outpatient setting
- Experience collaborating with other agencies
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medically assisted treatment protocol
- Experience providing clinical assessments and referrals
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: FLSA Exempt, standard Monday – Friday and some evening hours
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver's license;
Must pass DMV record check;
Must pass TB test;
Certification in First Aid and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, as required;
For MHCM position: Must be eligible to obtain L.C.S.W., L.P.C., or Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of VA within 2 years. Master's Degree may be necessary as program requirements stipulate;
Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check.
Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services.
