This Is For a Management-side Labor And Employment Attorney Who Wants a Full-spectrum Practice — Counseling, Litigation, And Traditional Labor — At a Firm Where Partners Actively Push Work Down And Development Is Built Into The Model. Candidates Must

  • Have 3–7 years of management-side labor and employment experience at a law firm
  • Be admitted to the New York bar or eligible and willing to waive in
  • Be based in or willing to relocate to Rochester or Buffalo, NY

This is NOT a remote role. Traditional labor experience (NLRA, CBA, arbitration) and M&A diligence exposure are meaningful bonuses.

Billable target: 1,800 hours. Hybrid: approximately 50% in-office, measured on trust.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Counsel management-side corporate clients on day-to-day employment matters: wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, NY Human Rights Law, and FLSA compliance
  • Draft and review employment policies, handbooks, employment agreements, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants
  • Advise on hiring practices, employee discipline, terminations, reductions in force, and leaves of absence
  • Handle employment litigation defense: EEOC charge responses, motion practice, depositions, mediations, and summary judgment
  • Support traditional labor matters: NLRA counseling, collective bargaining, grievances, arbitrations, and NLRB proceedings
  • Conduct workplace training and internal investigations across a diverse client base including public entities, academic institutions, and health systems

What We're Looking For

  • 3–7 years of management-side labor and employment experience at a law firm (flexible to 2–8 years for exceptional candidates)
  • Strong counseling skills and at least some employment litigation exposure
  • Traditional labor (NLRA, CBA, arbitration) experience is a meaningful plus
  • NY bar admission or eligibility and willingness to waive in
  • Long-term minded attorney looking for a true partnership track at a collaborative, low-ego firm
