Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
License: Any state license works (current, active, unrestricted)
Certifications: Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
Experience needed: 2 years acute care hospital experience with both dialysis AND med/surg experience required
Special Skills needed: Hands-on dialysis nursing proficiency in a hospital-based setting, including managing dialysis equipment, vascular access, and monitoring patients throughout treatment. Strong med/surg assessment skills to support the broader day-hospital patient population beyond dialysis. Able to manage adverse reactions and respond quickly to changes in patient condition across multiple patient types.
Responsibilities: Provide dialysis and general day-hospital nursing care at the NIH Clinical Center, managing both dialysis patients and a variety of other day-hospital patients as assigned. Perform pre-, intra-, and post-dialysis assessments; manage vascular access; operate and troubleshoot dialysis equipment; and maintain accurate clinical documentation throughout. Participate in every-other-weekday late call (5:30–6pm) and a minimum of 24 hours of weekend call per month.
