Job Title: PhlebotomistSpecialty: Phlebotomy / Clinical Laboratory ServicesSite: VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS)Location: 2615 E Clinton Ave., Fresno, CA 93703
Pay rate: $23 to $25 on W2
Duration: 4-month contract with the possibility of a 4-month extensionShift Schedule: Rotating 8-hour shifts. Morning, evening, and graveyard shifts. Includes evenings, weekends, and Federal holidays as neededHow Many Shifts Needed Per Month: VACCHCS laboratory operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week including Federal holidays. Candidate must be available for any shift requiring coverage.Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 to 8 weeksCertifications:- Current Phlebotomy Technician Certificate issued by the State of California
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Proficient in routine and STAT venipunctures
- Skilled in specimen collection, transport, processing, and suitability evaluation
- Fluent in English (speak, read, write, understand)
- Familiar with multi-discipline laboratory specimen handling
- Perform routine and STAT blood draws, urine, and body fluid collections
- Transport, process, and evaluate specimen suitability
- Document care in medical records per VHA policy
- Complete all VA mandatory training before and within 30 days of first shift
- Follow patient safety, infection control, and HIPAA standards
- Submit accurate timesheets to Phlebotomy Supervisor or Laboratory Manager
- Report incidents immediately using P&LM Service incident reporting form
- Wear PIV card visibly on person at all times while on-site
