Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Acute Care Nursing Services
No of Positions or Candidates Required: Up to 10 Providers
Specialty: Acute Care / Medical-Surgical Inpatient Unit
Place of Performance: Pine Ridge Service Unit (PRSU), Pine Ridge IHS Hospital, 607 Indian Health Road, Pine Ridge, SD 57770
Start Date: July 2026
Shift Schedule:
- Day Shift: 0700 1930
- Night Shift: 1900 0730
- Shift rotation required based on staffing and patient load
- Seven (7) 12-hour shifts within a two-week period
- Regular schedule based on 84 hours in a two-week pay period
- 30-minute unpaid meal break required
- Coverage required for weekends, holidays, emergencies, and staffing shortages
How Many Shifts Needed Per Month:
- Equivalent to 84 hours every two weeks
- Seven (7) 12-hour shifts within a two-week period
License:
- Current, unrestricted LPN license from any U.S. State, Territory, or District of Columbia
- Must have passed NCLEX-PN
Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
Experience Needed:
- Minimum 2 years of Acute Care / Medical-Surgical Nursing experience preferred
Special Skills Needed:
- Adult and pediatric acute care experience
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring
- IV therapy and venipuncture
- Emergency response and resuscitation support
- Medication administration through all routes
- Wound care and infection control practices
- Experience with EHR/RPMS documentation systems
- Ability to work in high-acuity rural healthcare settings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care for adult and pediatric acute care patients
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor patient conditions and perform reassessments
- Maintain accurate documentation in EHR/RPMS systems
- Provide patient and family education
- Assist in emergency and cardiac arrest situations
- Coordinate care with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Follow IHS, CMS, TJC, HIPAA, and infection control standards
- Participate in mandatory trainings, meetings, and quality improvement activities
