Duties And Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose and fix complex electrical and control system failures on roll-forming lines, overhead cranes, and CNC metal processing equipment.
- PLC/HMI Support: Perform online troubleshooting and minor programming edits on PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) to optimize machine performance.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled inspections on VFDs, servo motors, sensors, and safety circuits to prevent unplanned downtime.
- System Integration: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new automated machinery or modifications to existing machines.
- Schematic Mastery: Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical blueprints to track down root causes of mechanical failures.
- Experience: 3 years of experience as a Controls or Automation Technician in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (metal fabrication or steel industry experience is a major plus).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with PLCs (troubleshooting logic, not just monitoring).
- Strong knowledge of 480V 3-phase power, DC circuits, and control wiring.
- Experience with VFDs, encoders, and proximity sensors.
- Education: Associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical certification/military training.
