The Tax Accounting Analyst will support tax accounting, reporting, and compliance activities across a complex, multi-jurisdictional regulated utility environment. This role will prepare tax accruals, support state and local tax filings, reconcile tax-related accounts, assist with audits and financial close activities, and help strengthen internal controls as the organization continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax accruals and maintain supporting calculations and workpapers.
- Prepare and file state and local tax returns, including sales and use tax filings.
- Support property tax reporting and compliance activities.
- Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities related to tax accounting.
- Prepare documentation and respond to information requests supporting tax audits.
- Monitor tax filing deadlines and maintain accurate compliance records.
- Research applicable tax regulations and requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain tax documentation, schedules, and supporting financial records.
- Support the development and improvement of tax processes and internal controls.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and other stakeholders on tax reporting and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting, tax, or related professional experience.
- Experience preparing tax accruals, reconciliations, or supporting tax filings.
- Knowledge of state and local tax compliance processes.
- Experience with general ledger account reconciliations and financial close activities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with ERP or financial accounting systems.
- Exposure to state and local tax (SALT) requirements preferred.
- Utility, energy, or regulated industry experience preferred.
- CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
