Primary Services is actively recruiting for an Outside Plant Lineman Trainee to support a large and well-established client in the telecommunications industry. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while learning the construction, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic infrastructure. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and ready to contribute to critical network operations in a fast-paced field environment.
Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain, reroute, and repair fiber optic cable plants.
- Set, remove, and repair utility poles.
- Pull, place, lash, de-lash, and secure strand, cable, and grounding systems.
- Operate company vehicles safely in the performance of job duties.
- Read and follow maps to plan and complete work efficiently.
- Safeguard and account for company property and maintain accurate equipment records.
- Safely use ladders, aerial lift devices, hand tools, and other equipment required for field operations.
- Respond to emergency and outage situations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Monitor workflow activities and maintain adherence to established quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two years of comparable experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1 year of commercial fiber optics experience required.
- Additional commercial fiber optics experience preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
- Must be insurable under company insurance requirements.
- Must be at least 24 years of age.
- Ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record review, background check, and drug screening.
- Availability to work overtime, on-call schedules, night shifts, and respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis as needed.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Strong ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Proven ability to plan work activities, manage multiple priorities, and remain organized in demanding environments.
Salary : $45,000 - $49,000
