Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Utility Locator to support a large and established client in the utilities industry. You'll work alongside experienced survey professionals and contribute to critical field operations that support construction, mapping, and land development projects. The Utility Locator will assist with daily survey activities, equipment setup, field measurements, and coordination between survey crew members to ensure accurate and efficient project execution.
Responsibilities
- Move, place, and hold range poles, level rods, and other surveying equipment.
- Set stakes, hubs, iron rods, and other survey markers in the field.
- Assist survey technicians with locating facilities using total stations, GPS equipment, levels, and subsurface locating devices.
- Clean, maintain, and organize surveying equipment to ensure operational accuracy.
- Stock survey vehicles with supplies and equipment required for daily assignments.
- Support field crews with land measurement and data collection activities.
- Maintain communication between survey crew members and survey leadership during field operations.
- Inspect and adjust equipment to maintain required calibration and accuracy standards.
- Follow safety procedures and field operation guidelines on active job sites.
- Travel to project locations as required to support survey activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical training in surveying, geomatics, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience supporting land surveying or construction field operations preferred.
- Familiarity with total stations, GPS surveying equipment, and leveling instruments preferred.
- Ability to read survey markers, maps, and field notes.
- Experience operating hand tools and field equipment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Knowledge of field safety practices and job site procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
