Position Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Tonawanda, NY. This position is responsible for the design and development of electrical systems, control schematics, and technical documentation supporting highly automated industrial equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical design, AutoCAD, and industrial control systems, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical schematics using AutoCAD and related electrical design software.
- Create power cabinet layouts and select appropriate electrical components.
- Design and support control systems, including interfaces with PLC hardware.
- Maintain, organize, and update electrical design documentation and CAD libraries.
- Generate Bills of Material (BOMs) from electrical drawings and project requirements.
- Produce customer documentation, validation protocols, and technical reports as required.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel and field service teams throughout project execution.
- Interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and incorporate requirements into electrical designs.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or electrical design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical design software.
- Experience developing electrical schematics and Bills of Material.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical standards and codes, including NEC, IEC, and related regulations.
- Ability to work from Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with CNC machines or CNC-controlled equipment.
- Exposure to manufacturing or plant production environments.
- Familiarity with PLC hardware and industrial automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and drainage schematics.
- Experience supporting both shop floor operations and field service teams.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or food manufacturing.
- Candidates with less than three years of experience will be considered if they possess relevant industry experience and have worked in a professional engineering environment following graduation.
