Pride Health is seeking a qualified and experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join a fast-paced acute care surgical services team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70809. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and operating room support in a hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
Prepare and organize instrument trays and sets for surgical procedures
Ensure proper labeling, wrapping, and documentation of all sterile items
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and Steris systems
Perform and document sterilization testing and quality assurance processes (including IUSS, VPRO, and biological/chemical indicators)
Reprocess scopes, probes, and specialized surgical instruments following established protocols
Maintain accurate equipment and instrumentation tracking documentation
Support operating room teams with timely delivery of sterile supplies and instruments
Adhere to infection control standards, hospital policies, and safety regulations
Maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines for sterile processing practices
Patient Population:
Surgical services supporting multiple specialties including Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurology, Cardiac, Urology, OB/GYN, Trauma, ENT, and Robotics
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience
Previous acute hospital OR experience required
CBSPD certification required
Travel experience required
Ability to work in a high-volume surgical environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Knowledge of sterile processing workflows and instrumentation standards
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with robotic systems including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
Familiarity with loaner trays and consignment instruments
Experience in multi-specialty surgical environments
Additional details:
Shift: Mid Shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM), Monday through Friday (5x8s)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility: Acute care hospital setting
Pay Range-29.00-31.00 Per hour
Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
Orientation: Virtual onboarding followed by on-site training and EMR orientation
Compliance requirements include COVID-19 vaccination (exemptions allowed per policy)
Travel compliance documentation required including SSN, DOB, references, and RTO details
Offered pay rate will be based on experience and credentials.
