Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for a Long Term Care facility. The Director of Nursing is responsible for overseeing all nursing operations, ensuring quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff management, and clinical excellence. This leadership role supervises nursing staff, manages clinical operations, supports quality improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily nursing operations and resident care services.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Manage staffing schedules and department resources.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets.
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in state and federal survey processes and implement Plans of Correction (POC).
- Lead Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives.
- Oversee EMR documentation, audits, staff training, and reporting.
- Complete and review resident assessments and individualized care plans.
- Monitor physician orders and resident condition changes.
- Ensure timely communication with physicians and family members.
- Maintain accurate resident records and documentation.
- Promote resident rights and ensure residents are free from abuse or neglect.
- Support antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
- Participate in care conferences, meetings, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Foster employee engagement and maintain a positive work environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice.
- Active BLS/CPR certification.
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience.
- Previous Director of Nursing experience in Long Term Care required.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Long Term Care (LTC) leadership experience.
- Experience managing EMR systems.
- Knowledge of CMS, state, and federal nursing home regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
