What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Strategy Analyst position at PriceEasy AI?
Business Strategy Analyst – Retail Intelligence & Analytics
Location: Houston, TX
Work Arrangement: 100% Work from Office
Employment Type: Full-Time
About PriceEasy
PriceEasy is an AI-powered retail intelligence company transforming how convenience retailers make decisions.
We work with leading retail organizations around the world, combining massive volumes of transaction, pricing, competitive, market, location, and external data to help retailers make smarter decisions and improve their operations.
We are looking for a highly analytical and intellectually curious Business Strategy Analyst who can turn complex data into powerful business insights.
The Role
Can you find the one insight hidden in millions of transactions that changes how a retailer operates?
As a Strategic Analyst at PriceEasy, you will work with large and diverse datasets to answer some of the most important questions facing our clients.
Why are sales declining at certain locations?
Which promotions are actually driving incremental sales?
Which products are performing above or below their potential?
How do pricing, competition, demographics, weather, traffic, and market conditions affect performance?
Where should a retailer open its next location?
What separates the highest-performing stores from the rest of the network?
Your job will go beyond creating reports and dashboards. You will find the story behind the data, identify opportunities, and translate your analysis into recommendations that can materially improve our clients’ businesses.
You will work with PriceEasy’s Customer Success, Product, Data, and leadership teams and have opportunities to present your insights directly to clients.
What You Will Do
Analyze Customer Transaction Data
Analyze millions of retail transactions to understand sales trends, customer behavior, product performance, basket composition, pricing, margins, and store-level performance.
Identify patterns, anomalies, correlations, and opportunities that traditional reporting may miss.
Evaluate Promotions and Retail Performance
Analyze promotional campaigns to determine what worked, what didn’t, and why.
Measure incremental sales, customer response, product performance, pricing effectiveness, and promotional ROI.
Help clients determine which promotions should be expanded, modified, or discontinued.
Analyze Markets and Competition
Combine internal client data with external datasets including competitive pricing, demographics, traffic, mobility, weather, market trends, and geographic information.
Identify how external factors influence store performance and uncover opportunities or risks within individual markets.
Identify High-Potential Locations
Use location, demographic, competitive, traffic, and performance data to help identify attractive markets and potential new retail locations.
Analyze existing networks to understand what characteristics differentiate successful locations from underperforming ones.
Benchmark Performance
Compare locations, markets, products, categories, and promotions to identify best practices and performance gaps.
Answer questions such as: What are the best stores doing differently?
Turn Data Into Strategy
The most important part of your job is not producing the analysis — it is determining what the analysis means.
Translate complex findings into clear recommendations that executives and operators can act on.
Build compelling presentations and executive-level analyses that explain the What, Why, and What Should We Do Next?
Become a Strategic Partner to Our Clients
Develop a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses and use data to proactively identify opportunities to improve sales, profitability, pricing, promotions, and operations.
Our goal is for you to become a thought partner to our clients, not simply an analyst.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is naturally curious and loves solving complex business problems with data.
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Analytics, or a related quantitative/business discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work comfortably with large and complex datasets
- Strong understanding of business and economics
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong ability to communicate analytical findings in simple business language
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to create compelling presentations and communicate with senior executives
- Ability to work from our Houston office five days per week
Preferred:
- SQL experience
- Experience with BI or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Knowledge of statistics, econometrics, forecasting, or predictive analytics
- Experience analyzing retail, consumer, pricing, transaction, or location data
- Experience in consulting, strategy, business analytics, retail analytics, or a similar analytical environment
- Familiarity with AI and modern analytical tools
Who Will Excel in This Role
You may be a great fit if you are the type of person who receives a dataset and immediately starts asking:
Why is this happening?
What is driving this trend?
What are we missing?
What other data could help explain this?
What decision should the client make because of this insight?
We want someone who isn’t satisfied with reporting that sales declined 8%.
We want the person who can determine why they declined, what is causing it, and what the client should do about it.
Why PriceEasy
At PriceEasy, you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, economics, data science, strategy, and retail.
You will analyze real-world business problems using large and diverse datasets and see your recommendations influence decisions across major retail organizations.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to develop beyond traditional analytics and become a strategic advisor capable of using data to transform how businesses operate.
