What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Prevail Recruiting?
Commercial Construction Estimator / Senior Estimator
Phoenix, AZ | $110K–$150K Base Bonus Profit Sharing
If you're a commercial construction estimator in Phoenix who's good at what you do but wondering whether there's a better place to do it, this is worth a conversation
We're representing an established Phoenix commercial general contractor that's growing its Preconstruction team.
This isn't a high-volume estimating shop where you're expected to crank out bids and move on to the next one.
You'll work directly with Preconstruction leadership and Operations, have a voice in how projects are pursued and built, and estimate a diverse portfolio of ground-up commercial work throughout Arizona.
And they're looking for someone who wants to stay and grow with the company — not just fill a seat.
The Opportunity
You'll work on commercial projects from early conceptual budgeting through final bid and turnover to Operations.
That includes:
- Conceptual, ROM, design-development and hard-bid estimates
- Ground-up commercial construction
- Quantity takeoffs and detailed pricing
- Subcontractor solicitation and relationships
- Bid leveling and scope analysis
- Identifying scope gaps and project risk
- Value engineering
- Pre-bid strategy
- Working directly with Preconstruction leadership
- Collaborating with PMs and Operations before projects hit the field
You'll have ownership of your estimates and the opportunity to influence how projects are approached — not simply price drawings.
What We're Looking For
We're open to different levels of experience.
If you have 2 years of legitimate commercial GC estimating experience, we'd like to talk.
If you're a more experienced or Senior Estimator looking for greater responsibility and compensation toward the top of the range, we'd like to talk to you too.
The important pieces are:
- Commercial GC estimating experience
- Ground-up construction experience
- Ability to read plans, specifications and scopes
- Quantity takeoff experience
- Subcontractor solicitation and bid leveling
- Estimating/takeoff software experience
- Strong organization and attention to detail
No specific degree required if you have the experience.
Why Consider It?
This is where the opportunity separates itself.
$110,000–$150,000 base salary
8–12% annual bonus
Profit sharing
7–12% company 401(k) contribution — without requiring an employee match
Plus:
- Medical, dental and vision
- Generous PTO and paid holidays
- Strong existing commercial backlog
- Diverse projects — you're not estimating the same product repeatedly
- Accessible leadership
- Long-term advancement opportunities
- Stable, established Phoenix contractor
- Leadership that values work-life balance
- A culture where good people are trusted to do their jobs
The company is growing, but they're intentional about how they grow and who they bring onto the team.
They're looking for an estimator who wants good projects, strong compensation, talented people around them and somewhere they can build the next chapter of their career.
If you're currently estimating commercial construction in the Phoenix market and this sounds like an improvement over where you are today, apply here or reach out confidentially.
You don't need to be actively looking. A conversation is enough.
