Pay: $18-22/hr

Summary
The Financial Counselor supports patients and families in navigating financial resources and assistance programs. This role includes explaining insurance coverage and government benefits, preparing cost estimates, reviewing financial responsibility, arranging payment plans, and collecting payments when necessary. Counselors serve as liaisons between patients, internal departments, and outside agencies to secure documentation, ensure eligibility, and confirm financial clearance for hospital admissions and discharges.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration may substitute for experience.

• At least two years of experience in insurance (private or government programs) required.

• Background in Medicaid or public assistance applications is strongly valued.

• Skills in interviewing, collections, and handling sensitive conversations are beneficial.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are preferred.

• Knowledge of healthcare policies, terminology, and regulatory guidelines is advantageous.
