Job Description
Prestige Academic Prep is seeking a part-time Orton-Gillingham reading tutor to provide individualized, structured literacy intervention for elementary and middle school students at our Martinsburg, WV office.
This position focuses on helping students with dyslexia, reading difficulties, and foundational literacy skill deficits through explicit, systematic, and multisensory reading instruction.
We are particularly interested in educators with formal Orton-Gillingham training, certification, or experience implementing evidence-based structured literacy programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized reading intervention using Orton-Gillingham principles or a comparable structured literacy approach.
- Deliver systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, encoding, spelling, and reading fluency.
- Assess student skill development and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Prepare structured literacy lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Maintain accurate instructional notes and document student progress.
- Support students with dyslexia and other language-based reading difficulties.
- Communicate professionally with families and Prestige Academic Prep staff.
Qualifications
- Formal training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or a comparable structured literacy program.
- Experience providing direct reading instruction or intervention.
- Knowledge of systematic phonics instruction and foundational reading development.
- Ability to develop and deliver individualized literacy lessons.
- Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills.
- Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check.
Orton-Gillingham certification and supervised practicum experience are preferred. Applicants with formal training who are working toward certification may also be considered.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a part-time, in-person position at our Martinsburg office.
Scheduling is based on student needs and tutor availability. Compensation is determined by relevant training, professional credentials, instructional experience, and the assigned services.
