Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining seamless communication with clients and internal departments. Summary of Duties: Responsible for billing research and processing, as directed. Serves as back up to others as warranted by time off.
Reports to: Revenue Director
Supervises: None
Essential Functions:
1. Sort mail correspondence to offices/remote billing staff
2. Work returned mail
3. Answer phone for the department & helps with patient billing questions
4. Take patient credit card payments
5. Sorts incoming faxes
6. Maintains strict confidentiality of PHI following Premier HIPAA policy and government regulation. Maintains strict confidentiality of employee information
7. Any other duties assigned by the Billing and Revenue Cycle Manager or COO
The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies and experience applicable to the job position.
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum one year experience in a business office setting dealing with clerical duties.
Requirements: Certificate/License: none.
Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of medical billing and collections practices and Premier billing policy.
2. Knowledge of computers and computer programs, preferably medical billing programs.
Skills:
1. Skill in planning, organizing.
2. Skill in using computers and office equipment.
3. Skill in customer service principles by using appropriate phone protocol.
4. Skill in dealing with high volume of detailed information.
Abilities:
1. Ability to deal courteously with patients, office staff and insurance personnel.
2. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, written and verbal.
3. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively, written and verbal.
4. Ability to pay attention to very detailed tasks and follow up frequently.
5. Ability to work effectively as a team member with co-workers, physicians, CEO and other staff.
6. Ability to type 45 wpm.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
