Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG.
- Review and verify patient information, medical records, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize EMR and EHR systems to document billing activities and track claim statuses.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements related to medical coding and billing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in ICD coding, CPT coding, and other relevant billing guidelines.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies and improve processes.
- Generate reports on billing activities, collections, and outstanding accounts for management review.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing with a solid understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance claim submission processes.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records and translate them into accurate billing codes.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all billing activities.
