Business Intelligence (BI) Developer
Location: Hybrid– Candidates must reside within a 1-hour radius of Knoxville

Position Overview
We are seeking a technically strong Business Intelligence professional to join a growing data and analytics team supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making initiatives. This opportunity is ideal for a mid-to-senior level BI Developer or BI Analyst II who enjoys building scalable reporting solutions, improving data accessibility, and partnering closely with both technical and business stakeholders. The team is looking for someone who can contribute immediately with SQL and reporting expertise while also bringing leadership potential. This role will focus on designing and supporting reporting solutions, developing ETL processes, optimizing data structures, and delivering meaningful dashboards and analytics that support operational and strategic business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to support enterprise reporting and analytics initiatives
- Create, enhance, and support data marts and reporting datasets for evolving business needs
- Develop and maintain reports using SSRS and dashboards using Power BI or similar BI visualization tools
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and T-SQL scripts
- Analyze report performance and implement query tuning and optimization strategies
- Translate business reporting requirements into scalable technical solutions and development tasks
- Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Collaborate with software developers, business stakeholders, and leadership on BI architecture and reporting strategy
- Support internal reporting initiatives, operational analytics, audit reporting, and compliance-related requests
- Participate in Agile development activities, including planning, estimation, and status communication
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing, process improvement, and BI best practices
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL development
- Hands-on ETL development experience using SSIS or comparable ETL platforms
- Experience developing reports in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Experience with Power BI or other enterprise dashboarding/reporting tools
- Solid understanding of database schema design and relational databases
- Experience with query optimization and performance tuning
- Understanding of dimensional modeling and star schema concepts
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical reporting solutions
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed Instance
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud environments
- Experience working in financial services, healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies
