What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Plastics Extrusion Assistant $20.00/hr + $2.00 shift premium position at Premier Protective Packaging?
PREMIER PROTECTIVE PACKAGING is located in Walker, MI, we specialize in unique custom packaging applications using Polypropylene (PP) and Polyethylene (PE), Foam, Bubble, and Non-Woven Spun Bond Polypropylene (SBPP) protective packaging materials. Our manufacturing technology utilizes state of the art, customizable sheet, bubble bag, die cut and laminating equipment that allows us to produce custom packaging.
We are looking for an experienced Plastics Extrusion Assistant to join our team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Follows safe operating procedures and practices for assigned extrusion machine
2. Performs minor adjustments to assigned extrusion machine
3. Load grinding system with material
4. Closely monitor temps and pressures
5. Perform basic maintenance on worn parts
6. Transports raw material to machine
7. Label, weigh and transport finished goods to warehouse
8. Periodically performs quality inspections
9. Maintains plant and equipment organization and cleanliness
10. Assist with organizing and coordinating inventory storage locations as well as monthly fiscal count of inventory when required
11. Back up extrusion operator
12. Back up Converting Operator
Job Qualifications:
1. The job requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of High School or equivalent
2. Valid Driver’s license
3. Forklift experience, or ability to attain and maintain forklift certification
4. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members
5. Mental ability to periodically handle pressures related to working on projects requiring attention and detail
6. Assists with training new Extrusion Helpers and backup extrusion helpers
7. Physical ability to bend, twist and walk most of the shift as well as lift and transport equipment and materials weighing up to 70 pounds
Working Conditions:
1. Inside working conditions with exposure to hot and cold conditions
2. Work includes periodic exposure to fumes, odors, dust, noise and moving objects
3. Work includes exposure to hazards associated with electrical and mechanical equipment
