Job Title: Shipping Clerk
Classification: Full-Time, non-exempt
Hourly Rate: $19.50 or higher DOE
Reports to: Shipping Manager
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10am-7pm (hours may vary depending on workload)
Location: In-Office (no remote), 5000 N Basin Ave. Portland, OR 97217

Requirements
General Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurate packaging, labeling, and shipping daily orders while coordinating with internal teams and external carriers to ensure on-time delivery. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to pivot quickly in a fast-moving environment. Responsibilities include preparing freight and parcel shipments, maintaining departmental supplies, performing basic quality control, supporting receiving operations, and assisting with dispatching drivers as needed. Training is provided for forklift operation, pallet jacks, and PackSize machine.
Essential Functions:
- Shipping daily orders within internal system
- Determine proper packing requirements to ensure the safe handling of products and meeting customer specifications.
- Package material according to established procedures.
- Load trucks.
- Coordinate & estimate shipments with freight and parcel carriers
- Coordinate Federal Express and UPS shipments.
- Organize and maintain all supplies for the department, re-ordering as needed.
- Serves as back-up support for receiving clerk as needed
- Assist in dispatching company drivers in a way to optimize the customer’s experience
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Skills & Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Basic computer and email skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and perform physical demands described below.
- Consistent and dependable attendance. Flexibility to support the team by covering early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Shipping/Receiving background
- Customer service
- Warehouse environment
- Dispatching experience is a plus, but not required

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and push pallets. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
