What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician position at Precision Resources?
We are seeking a highly skilled Composite Development & Prototype Technician to join our advanced R&D team. In this hands-on role, you will be at the forefront of innovation—performing a variety of duties in composite development and experimental prototype fabrication and assembly. This is not a production role; you will work exclusively in a development environment, building, testing, and refining next-generation composite structures and components.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct experimental composite prototypes and assemblies by interpreting composite lay‐up schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
- Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain composite‐related equipment, tooling, and prototype components to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate specialized fabrication equipment to conduct experimental builds. Perform tests and document data in prescribed formats.
- Prepare custom resin systems, hardeners, and curing solutions according to engineering specifications.
- Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed by engineering staff.
- Accurately record test results, material usage, and procedural deviations; report data and observations to engineers to support iterative design improvements.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in composite fabrication, preferably in a developmental, R&D, or prototype environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, lay-up schematics, and process specifications.
- Familiarity with composite fabrication equipment
- Working knowledge of epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, and high-temperature resin systems, including mixing, handling, and curing profiles.
- Strong precision and dexterity for intricate hand lay-up and assembly work.
