Job Duties
- Manage the company's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis of historical financial data, including sales, profitability, working capital, and cash.
- Support the budgeting process by preparing budget schedules, tracking actuals versus budget monthly, and flagging variances to management.
- Maintain and assess standard costing used in determining cost of goods sold, and assist in identifying and explaining cost variances.
- Manage inventory accounting processes and methodology to ensure accuracy and visibility within the warehouse.
- Act as a resource for other departments by providing financial data and analysis to support business decisions.
- Experience supporting or participating in 13-week cash flow forecasting, including tracking cash receipts, disbursements, and short-term liquidity needs.
- Assist with accounts receivable oversight, including customer credit monitoring and follow-up on delinquent payments.
- Manage vendor invoice processing and payment prioritization.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, providing day-to-day guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Support tax advisors by preparing and maintaining necessary documentation for federal and state income tax filings.
- Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings accurately and on time.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency within the accounting function.
Required Skills and Experience
- Solid knowledge of daily accounting processes in accordance with US GAAP.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with direct exposure to cost accounting and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience working within an ERP system.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and analyze financial data and clearly summarize findings.
- Effective communicator who can present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising at least one or two direct reports preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- CPA or CMA a plus but not required
- Experience in a private equity backed environment a plus
