CONTEXT: Our client is seeking a proactive, hands-on Operations & Dispatch Manager to lead daily dispatch operations, driver management, and fleet maintenance for aggregate deliveries servicing the San Antonio and Comfort regions.
This single-point-of-contact role bridges ground logistics and team management, ensuring optimal asset utilization, strict safety/DOT compliance, and high-efficiency material delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct, schedule, and optimize daily dispatch operations for heavy-haul and aggregate haulers using industry dispatch software.
- Analyze travel times, job site conditions, and haul capacities to maximize turnaround times and fleet utilization across San Antonio, Comfort, and surrounding corridors.
- Dynamically adjust dispatch schedules to account for field delays, pit wait times, weather, or emergency job site changes.
- Communicate directly with site superintendents, project managers, and dispatch teams to confirm volume requirements and coordinate delivery timelines.
- Develop and manage routine vehicle maintenance programs, including oil changes, tire rotations, DOT inspections, and wear-and-tear repairs.
- Oversee relationships with third-party repair shops and internal mechanics to minimize equipment downtime and keep haulers operational.
- Track equipment status, turn times, and fuel usage to control operational overhead and extend fleet longevity.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate haul drivers, fostering a strong culture of accountability, punctuality, and professional customer service.
- Ensure strict adherence to FMCSA and DOT regulations, driver logs, load weight limits, and site safety protocols.
- Regularly travel between active job sites, quarry pits, and staging areas in the provided company truck to monitor safety, assess site accessibility, and resolve field disputes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–5 years of management or supervisory experience in aggregate logistics, ready-mix concrete transport, or heavy construction materials delivery.
- Demonstrated track record of managing both dispatch functions and driver teams simultaneously.
- Hands-on proficiency with heavy-haul dispatch and fleet management software.
- Solid working knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance schedules, mechanical systems, and repair processes.
- Deep understanding of FMCSA/Texas DOT regulations, driver hours-of-service rules, and weight/load capacities.
- Strong knowledge of the road networks, quarry locations, and construction hubs within the San Antonio and Comfort, TX region.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record to operate the company-provided vehicle.
