Additional Compensation Details:

• Competitive Salary based on VHA Pay Scale
• Annual Performance Pay up to a max of $15,000.00.

We are seeking Board Eligible or Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians with at least 2 years of experience working in ED.

Duties:

The physician working in ED must determine if a patient's symptoms may be caused by a serious medical condition. If a patient presents to the emergency department in distress, the emergency physician may be expected to do any of the following:

• Evaluation and treatment of the following body systems: skin, eye, ear, nose, throat, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urologic, reproductive, nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal and hematology of patients in the Emergency Room.
• Perform invasive and non-invasive procedures in ED patients, based on the ED guidelines, such as emergency resuscitation, placing an intravenous line etc.
• Initial and ongoing assessment of patients' medical, physical, and psychosocial status.
• Obtain and document a comprehensive medical and psychological history and physical examination. Order appropriate diagnostic tests, interpret laboratory studies and take appropriate action.
• Taking whatever steps are necessary to stabilize the patient for transport to another area of the hospital or transport to another hospital.
• Determining if patients need to be admitted to the hospital for further evaluation.
• Discharging some patients with instructions for self-treatment and follow-up with their personal care physician for additional evaluation on an outpatient basis
• Provide medical advice to patients, families, and community health providers by telephone.
• Document patient care in the electronic health record within the prescribed time limits.
• Attends Medical Center and community meetings, seminars, conferences.
• Follow processes established by the Chief of ED, guidelines, MCM, metrics and policies of VHA and facility.
• Have the capacity to work in a teamwork environment where the priority will be to follow the VHA cores of integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect and excellence.
• Other duties as assigned.
  

Work Schedule: Rotating schedule of 8-hour shifts /7 days / 24 hours to complete 80 hours per PP (every 2 weeks).
