What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prefabrication Spooler position at ppcpartners?
The Prefabrication Spooler is responsible for developing accurate, buildable 3D Revit models and generating detailed spool drawings to support electrical prefabrication and field installation. This role bridges the gap between design coordination and fabrication by converting coordinated models into spool sheets, material takeoffs, and assembly drawings used by the prefab shop and field crews.
The Detailer works closely with the VDC team, prefab shop, and field leadership to ensure that spooled assemblies are constructible, standardized, and aligned with company prefab strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain Revit models focused on spooling assemblies for prefabrication.
- Generate detailed spool drawings, including dimensions, annotations, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions.
- Organize and label spool sheets according to company prefab standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate with field supervisors and prefab managers to verify constructability and sequencing.
- Update models with as-built field changes, redlines, and design revisions.
- Collaborate with VDC coordinators and other trades during model coordination and clash detection.
- Standardize spool templates, naming conventions, and prefab content libraries.
- Support material tracking and logistics by ensuring spool data aligns with procurement and inventory systems.
- Continuously improve prefab modeling workflows for efficiency and consistency.
