Reporting To: Executive Chef, Sous Chefs
Position Overview:
Powder Mountain is seeking Prep Cooks to join our culinary team! Prep cooks are responsible for fulfilling all prep duties for Breakfast and Après services. This role requires working with the team to execute daily tasks while maintaining cleanliness, organization and efficiency in the kitchen. Key Responsibilities:
- Production & Preparation: Execute daily prep tasks according to established recipes, specifications, and kitchen standards, ensuring ingredients are ready for service.
- Consistency & Quality: Maintain uniform cuts, textures, and preparations across all assigned ingredients; ensure all prepped items meet flavor and freshness standards.
- Recipe Adherence: Follow detailed prep guides, batch recipes, and portioning requirements with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Organization & Efficiency: Label, date, and store all prepped items properly; maintain an organized workstation and contribute to overall kitchen flow.
- Inventory Support: Assist in monitoring product levels, communicate low-stock items to chefs, and follow proper rotation (FIFO) to minimize waste.
- Sanitation & Safety: Uphold strict food-safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards in accordance with health-department regulations and company policies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with line cooks, sous chefs, and dish staff to ensure the kitchen stays prepared and service runs smoothly.
- Equipment Use: Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely and correctly, reporting any maintenance issues immediately.
Requirements and/or Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of professional kitchen experience in a high volume or fine dining environment.
- Strong foundation in knife skills and safe use of kitchen equipment.
- Current Utah Food Handler’s Permit (Required).
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Continual use of manual dexterity for safe use of knives, slicers, mixers, pots, pans, other sharp objects, electrical shocks, etc.
Working Environment:
Kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold and sharp utensils. Work location is located at high elevation, exposure to outdoor conditions including high winds, snow, and sun when outside.
Salary : $26 - $28
