(2) Full-time Nurse (RN or LPN) - Ringing Rocks and High School

Pottsgrove School District has an opening beginning in the 2026-2027 school year for 2 separate nursing positions:

1. Full-time Nurse who will be split between Ringing Rocks Elementary School and Pottsgrove High School

2. Full-time Nurse at Ringing Rocks Elementary

Pottsgrove nurses provide first aid and routine prescribed health care to students and faculty as needed.  Implements state and local health rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assess and triage (determine if student needs immediate attention, needs to be sent home, etc.) illness and injuries occurring during school hours for students and staff.
2. Provide health care according to PGSD Medical Policies/Procedures
3. Provide symptomatic relief using over-the-counter medications with permission from guardians.
4. Observe and counsel students for general health needs.
5. Instruct teachers regarding the special health needs of their students.
6. Provide current health and safety information and regulations to staff members.
7. Implement school policy on exclusion and readmission of students with infectious or contagious diseases.
8. Identify possible drug or alcohol use or abuse.
9. Inform students regarding appropriate community or school services and assist in making referrals as requested by students.
10. Administer medications to students as prescribed by student medical teams and per applicable board policies. 
11. Implement and support seizure, allergy, and diabetic care plans for students. This includes support to the care provided as listed in student 504, IEP and GIEP documents.
12. Notify and confer with parents or guardians, home school personnel, and administration regarding student injury or illness.
13. Record visits to the health room using the online medication and nursing visit software site. 
14. Complete and send accident reports per guidelines, including workmen’s compensation reports.
15. Accompany sick or injured students to health care professionals or emergency rooms, if required.
16. Collect and maintain student emergency data cards.
17. Perform mandated health screenings and maintain health records for all students in compliance with state regulations.
18. Attend and support field trips given medical needs of identified students.
19. Order and inventory nurses office supplies
20. Other duties as assigned by Nursing Lead Coordinator, Building Principal, or Director of Pupil Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Certified in Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN).

CLEARANCE QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code) 
2. Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code) 
3. FBI Criminal History Record
4. Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994

Locations:

(1) Ringing Rocks Elementary School 

(1) Pottsgrove High School

Compensation: LPN per hour pay: $26.50. RN per hour pay: $30

Schedule: 7.5 hours per day on all student days

Hours: 8:20am - 3:50pm. Day starts at the high school and ends at Ringing Rocks Elementary

Must have current Act 34, 151 & 114 Clearances
