What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendance Clerk - High School position at POTTSGROVE HIGH SCHOOL?
JOB SUMMARY: Monitor and record student attendance in accordance with state law and district policy and procedure.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process documentation for students reporting late and for those seeking early dismissal; receive and process all early dismissal requests and absence notes.
- Communicate with parents, faculty, and administrators, verbally and in writing, regarding student tardiness, early dismissals and absences.
- Process and file student absences; input daily attendance information into the student database, including but not limited to tardy, early dismissals and absences.
- Maintain an accurate, comprehensive and efficient filing system for absence slips, early dismissal notes, and letters to parents.
- Process unlawful/unexcused absences including but not limited to completing detention cards, effectuating changes in absence status in the student database, and run reports on the number of unlawful absences for students.
- Prepare and distribute all correspondence relative to student attendance.
- Utilize the district’s computer system to accomplish responsibilities of student accounting and attendance issues.
- Purge student attendance folders annually and store documents removed from said files.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal and Assistant Principals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required.
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- FBI Criminal History Record
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
