Legal Assistant Paralegal

Porter Simon is a long-established law firm with its home office in Truckee and serves the greater Truckee/Tahoe and Reno regions. Porter Simon is in need of a qualified legal assistant to join its litigation group which presently handles business litigation, family law, trust litigation and personal injury matters. This full-time position with benefits requires two or more years of experience in the legal field. Experience in litigation is preferred. 

The position requires excellent comprehension, attention to detail and deadlines, outstanding communication and organizational skills, ability to multitask and respond well to interruptions, problem solving, and strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft applications and legal case management software. Knowledge of basic legal terminology is helpful as is familiarity with California civil procedure rules. The position involves daily in office interaction with the firm’s professional staff and attorneys, as well as clients, court staff, and outside counsel. Skills required include ability to draft grammatically correct written communications, summarize complex documents and materials, manage attorney calendars, court and meeting scheduling, organizing and inputting digital file data, critical thinking, and ability to work independently.
