The Recreation Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of recreational and leisure programs for adults with disabilities. This position focuses on promoting inclusion, enhancing quality of life, and fostering social, physical, and emotional well-being. The Recreation Manager will collaborate with staff, caregivers, and community partners to ensure programs meet the diverse needs and abilities of participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Management:
    • Design and implement a variety of recreational programs, activities, and events tailored to the needs and abilities of adults with disabilities.
    • Develop individualized and group-based activities, including fitness, arts, sports, and community outings.
    • Ensure programs promote inclusivity, skill-building, and personal growth.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of disabilities and the recreational needs of persons with disabilities without exclusion.
  • Supervision and Training:
    • Recruit, train, and supervise recreation staff and volunteers.
    • Provide ongoing support and mentorship.
    • Ensure staff adhere to policies, safety procedures, and best practices.
  • Participant Engagement:
    • Assess participants' interests, abilities, and goals to create meaningful programs.
    • Foster positive relationships with participants, families, and caregivers.
    • Address concerns or feedback to improve program effectiveness.
  • Administration and Budgeting:
    • Manage program budgets, including purchasing supplies and tracking expenses.
    • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, progress reports, and incident documentation.
    • Prepare reports and evaluations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Community Outreach and Collaboration:
    • Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and service providers.
    • Advocate for inclusion and accessibility in the community.
    • Organize awareness events to promote understanding and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Implement risk management and safety protocols for participants and staff.
    • Address and document incidents or emergencies promptly.
