PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Instructional Coach provides targeted support to teachers and campus administration to enhance the instructional capacity of the campus. This role focuses on improving student learning by assisting teachers in effectively utilizing district resources, analyzing and responding to student data, and implementing best instructional practices. The coach collaborates closely with educators and leadership to ensure alignment with district goals and to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
BA/BS – Master’s degree Preferred
Appropriate Texas Certification or such alternative as may be acceptable to the district
Experience:
5 or more (non-consecutive) years of K-8 teaching experience across your career (special education or
general education) or graduate level training and coursework
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Duties
- Provide support in analyzing student assessment data
- Assist teachers in making instructional decisions based on assessment data
- Assist teachers with planning specific classroom activities when requested
- Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies
- Assist teachers in creating materials that are aligned with the curriculum
- Model lessons that demonstrate best practices when appropriate
- Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers
- Provide job-embedded professional development
- Offer non-evaluative feedback on a regular basis
- Inspire teachers to try new learning strategies and/or other tools
- Support new teachers
- Service and support teacher needs
- Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed
- Provide teachers with resources related to instruction and curriculum
- Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues
- Model effective, differentiated instruction when requested
- Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers
- Assist with the development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers and administrators
- Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments
- Engage as a positive, collaborative member of a team
- Utilize a deep knowledge and professional experience in instructional strategies, conditions of learning, and assessment in order to drive instruction
- Utilize effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build an environment that has a common instructional focus, promotes initiatives, and conveys expectations.
