Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Inside Sales – Customer Account Specialist to manage a portfolio of Department of Defense, aerospace, and defense (A&D) accounts. This role is a strong fit for buyers, procurement/purchasing agents, and account managers who know the A&D supply chain and want to own the full cycle from RFQ through order placement. You will manage customer and OEM/franchised-supplier relationships, source and negotiate pricing and lead times, issue accurate quotes, and expedite orders to meet demanding delivery and quality requirements. This is a full-time, direct hire position with a competitive salary and full company benefits package.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage meaningful, long-term relationships with customers and OEM/franchised suppliers.
- Must have in depth, comprehensive understanding of each account and their needs and requirements.
- Identify and address customer needs, assessing each using standard procedures and making sound business decisions.
- Answer customer inquiries and provide additional information as necessary.
- Ensure that all RFQ activities are well established, communicated, and agreed upon within company guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate customer records in CRM.
- Process customer quotes and orders and flow down quality and compliance requirements (e.g., quality clauses, counterfeit-avoidance, DFARS) to our manufacturers.
- Follow up with customers on open quotes for purchase order status.
- Review customer purchase orders received to ensure that they match the quote provided.
- High level of attention to detail and technical competency, accuracy, and focus on details such as part numbers, drawings and quality notes are critical.
- Responsible for managing the process from RFQ to order placement.
- Source components and negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms with OEMs and authorized distributors to meet customer cost and schedule targets.
- Manage open orders end to end: expedite shipments, track delivery schedules, and proactively communicate status, risks, and recovery plans to customers.
- Interpret customer requirements including part numbers, drawings, revision levels, and quality/flow-down notes to ensure accurate, compliant sourcing.
Job Level Specifications:
· Knowledge of the organization, job, practices, and procedures.
· A working knowledge of the electronic component supply chain and franchised/authorized distribution channels.
· Work is performed under minimal guidance with strong organizational skills.
· Detail-oriented with a focus on reviewing the requirements of each customer order, using independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
· Collaborate with internal or external contacts in a customer service and professional approach.
· Ability to communicate in verbal and written format to all levels.
· Possess a positive attitude and enthusiasm for excellence in customer experience.
Work Experience and skills:
· 3-5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing, account management, inside sales, or customer service – ideally supporting aerospace & defense or electronic component accounts
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Environment (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
- Familiarity with sales process management (CRM)(Microsoft Dynamics) systems and ERP (order entry) Systems.
· Experience buying or selling electronic components in the aerospace & defense industry strongly preferred, including familiarity with franchised distribution and OEM sourcing.
· Knowledge of using customer and supplier portals.
- Comfortable negotiating with suppliers, reading technical/quality requirements, and managing competing priorities under deadline.
Education and Certification(s):
· Associate's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
