Under minimal supervision, the Senior Loan Underwriter will be responsible for managing loan portfolio, evaluating loan applications, underwriting, building and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Mandatory Training Curricula

This job is mostly sedentary in nature, but may occasionally involve lifting files and other materials that weigh up to 20 lbs. Employees in this job must be able to work in an office environment during regular business hours where they come into regular and frequent contact with internal and external customers and other members of the public. Therefore, employees in this position are expected to have consistently positive interactions with the public.
Requirements
Education/Training
M.B.A / M.S Preferred; B.S. or B.A. degree in business, economics, accounting, finance; real estate development or related certifications.
Experience
A minimum of 8 years of experience in underwriting construction loans, C & I, permanent mortgages, assets-based loan, letters of credit, SBA 7a & 504 loans, and not-for-profits. Experience supervising and developing loan’s underwriter team. Transactions of up to $60MM. Experience working cross functionally with support teams. Experience in medium-sized companies (average annual sales up to $100MM).
Salary Range
$110,000 - $135,000

Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, the Senior Loan Underwriter will be responsible for managing loan portfolio, evaluating loan applications, underwriting, building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Essential Functions
- Identify, review and analyze all relevant information in order to assess credit risk; determine profitability, strength of a guarantor or borrower, and sources of repayment.
- Coordinating work within different departments to collect and verify information and documentation, for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with Bank policies
- Review and analyze financial information in order to determine profitability and strength of a guarantor or borrower while adhering to risk management and underwriting policies & procedures
- Perform financial and cash flow forecasting analysis to include key financial ratios in order to determine debt repayment and profitability, as well as identify how industry trends may have an impact on the credit and or borrower’s performance.
- Analyze accounts receivables aging on a monthly / quarterly / annual basis, plus borrowing base certificates to ensure adequate collateral protection
- Prepare credit proposals with respect to financial standing and make recommendations to the Bank’s Loan Committee and/or Board of Directors for approval or denial.
- Manage and monitor existing commercial loan portfolio to include performing annual credit reviews, plus ensuring compliance with terms of loan agreement and recommending corrective action as needed; portfolio includes complex accounts
- Manage non-loan credit products to include ACH and Overdrafts for new and existing customers.
- Manage and training to credit support in underwriting for new and renewals of existing credits.
- Manage a team of underwriters and loan processors, ensuring compliance with Bank policies and Federal regulations on all facilities, as well as, meeting targeted goals.
- Coordinates with the Bank’s loan processing and closing teams to facilitate loan renewals and or amendments
