Art Portfolio Instructor (Experienced Required)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Art Portfolio Instructor to mentor middle and high school students in developing competitive art portfolios for admission to top art schools and programs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both studio art and portfolio coaching, with proven success guiding students into selective programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide students in developing high-quality art portfolios for applications to competitive programs (e.g., RISD, Parsons, Pratt Institute, etc.)
- Design personalized curriculum plans based on each student’s skill level, artistic direction, and target schools
- Mentor students through the full creative process: concept development, research, sketching, execution, and refinement
- Provide structured critiques and help students build a cohesive and concept-driven portfolio
- Introduce a variety of media, including drawing, painting, mixed media, and digital art (if applicable)
- Track student progress and communicate effectively with parents and the academic team
- Stay up to date with portfolio requirements and admission trends of top art schools
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching art or guiding student portfolios
- Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced skills in fine arts or related fields
- Proven track record of helping students gain admission to art programs (preferred)
- Solid understanding of portfolio expectations for U.S. art schools
- Ability to teach conceptual thinking, not just technical skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with middle/high school students
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Illustration, Design, or related field
- Experience with AP Studio Art, IB Art, or similar programs
- Familiarity with digital tools (Photoshop, Procreate, etc.)
- Bilingual (English Chinese) is a strong plus
Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
