The position is inperson ONLY in our Syosset campus.
Duties
- Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate art curriculum tailored to different skill levels and interests.
- Lead hands-on art activities including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, sewing, and other mediums to encourage self-expression.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive, inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and respect.
- Support campers’ social-emotional development through art projects that enhance confidence and self-awareness.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan themed activities that integrate theater, dance (such as ballet or dancing), culinary arts (like cooking projects), and early childhood education concepts.
- Maintain a safe classroom environment by adhering to safety protocols and supervising all activities closely.
- Document camper progress through photos or portfolios, providing feedback to parents and camp coordinators as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching or tutoring children in various settings, including classroom experience or preschool experience.
- Strong background in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and special education strategies is highly desirable.
- Skills in arts such as painting, sewing, photography, theater arts, ballet, dancing, or culinary arts are preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with children of different ages, including early childhood education and preschool levels.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage children creatively while maintaining discipline.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs or behavioral management skills is a plus.
