Position Summary
The Chemical Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of grinding, blending, screening, packaging, and material handling equipment within a high-volume toll manufacturing facility. This position supports the production of customer-specific products while maintaining compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), safety requirements, quality standards, and production schedules.
The Chemical Operator performs all manufacturing activities associated with receiving raw materials, processing powders and granular products, operating blending and milling equipment, repackaging finished products, and completing required documentation to ensure product quality and traceability.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGrinding & Milling Operations
- Operate grinding, milling, pulverizing, and classification equipment according to approved manufacturing instructions.
- Monitor particle size requirements and process parameters to meet customer specifications.
- Inspect equipment prior to operation and report abnormalities or maintenance concerns.
- Complete equipment setup, product changeovers, and cleaning activities.
- Verify material identity and lot numbers before processing.
Blending Operations
- Operate ribbon blenders, paddle mixers, tumble blenders, and associated processing equipment.
- Weigh and charge raw materials according to approved batch records and work instructions.
- Monitor blend times, batch weights, and process parameters.
- Ensure proper material sequencing and lot traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
- Assist with in-process sampling and quality checks.
Repackaging Operations
- Package finished products into drums, bags, pails, supersacks, and other customer-specified containers.
- Verify product identity, labels, weights, and packaging requirements prior to filling.
- Operate filling, weighing, sealing, and labeling equipment.
- Complete packaging records and ensure accurate product reconciliation.
- Prepare finished goods for warehouse transfer and shipment.
Material Handling
- Transport raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment.
- Stage materials for production and return unused materials to inventory.
- Ensure proper labeling and status identification of all materials.
- Maintain organized production and warehouse areas.
Documentation & cGMP Compliance
- Accurately complete batch records, equipment logs, cleaning records, and production documentation.
- Follow cGMP requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain full material traceability and lot control throughout production.
- Report deviations, quality concerns, or process abnormalities immediately.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality investigations as required.
Equipment Cleaning & Changeovers
- Perform cleaning and sanitization activities according to approved procedures.
- Verify equipment cleanliness prior to production startup.
- Execute product changeovers while minimizing downtime.
- Prevent cross-contamination through adherence to cleaning and line-clearance requirements.
Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Follow all facility safety rules, OSHA requirements, and chemical handling procedures.
- Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Safely handle powders, chemicals, and bulk materials.
- Report unsafe conditions, spills, near misses, and incidents immediately.
- Support housekeeping initiatives and maintain a clean production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating ribbon blenders, mills, classifiers, screeners, or packaging equipment.
- Experience in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience with batch manufacturing documentation and inventory systems.
- Understanding of material traceability and lot control requirements.
Work Environment
This position works within a high-volume toll manufacturing facility producing customer-specific chemical products through grinding, blending, screening, and repackaging operations. Operators are expected to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, customer focus, and cGMP compliance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
