Position Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and accurate movement, storage, issuance, shipping, and inventory control of raw materials, packaging components, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods within a toll manufacturing environment. This position ensures materials are received, stored, handled, documented, and shipped in accordance with customer requirements, cGMP standards, company procedures, and inventory control practices.
The Material Handler plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production operations, and ensuring customer orders are shipped correctly and on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Material Handling
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming raw materials, packaging materials, and production supplies.
- Transport materials safely between warehouse, production, and staging areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Issue materials to production in accordance with approved work orders and batch records.
- Return unused materials to inventory following established procedures.
- Maintain proper identification, labeling, and segregation of materials.
- Ensure materials are stored according to company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Shipping Operations
- Prepare customer shipments according to shipping schedules and customer specifications.
- Verify product identity, quantity, lot numbers, and packaging prior to shipment.
- Generate shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, certificates, and shipping labels.
- Coordinate outbound shipments with carriers and logistics providers.
- Load and unload trucks safely while preventing product damage.
- Maintain shipping records and ensure accurate transaction entry into inventory systems.
Inventory Control
- Perform inventory transactions in ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventories.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory locations and ensure proper stock rotation practices.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through timely and accurate documentation.
- Assist in reconciling material usage and inventory variances.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all required documentation accurately and legibly.
- Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), SOPs, and safety procedures.
- Maintain material traceability through proper lot control and recordkeeping.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits as required.
- Ensure warehouse and staging areas remain organized, clean, and inspection-ready.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
- Follow all facility safety policies, OSHA requirements, and company procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged materials, and equipment issues immediately.
- Maintain clean and organized warehouse, shipping, and inventory storage areas.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work in warehouse and manufacturing environments with varying temperatures and conditions.
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing and warehouse environment supporting toll manufacturing operations. Employees are expected to comply with all company safety, quality, cGMP, and customer-specific requirements while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
