What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Receptionist/Administrative Assistant position at Polaris Law Group, P.C.?
Polaris Law Group, P.C., with offices in North Pole and Delta Junction, Alaska, will be opening our Lawton, Oklahoma, office in the next 6-9 months and seeks a legal assistant / receptionist. PLG will focus on a robust federal practice, and we seek a polished, professional, mature, independent, highly organized, focused, and super motivated self-starter to join our growing team as a legal assistant and receptionist. This position cannot be performed remotely. The ideal candidate will be responsible and dependable, and able to work without direct supervision. Strong oral communications and customer service skills are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Suite applications, and use of the Internet and cloud-based file storage and applications. Also, will learn and regularly use online applications for client case management. Prior law office experience a plus. Duties primarily will involve providing administrative support to attorneys and paralegals in the areas of bankruptcy law, immigration law, public benefits (e.g., federal Social Security disability, VA disability appeals), government contracts litigation, and general federal litigation. Other tasks include scheduling prospective client appointments, communicating with existing clients, keeping the office calendar, courier duties, requisition and inventory of supplies, interfacing with vendors, light office upkeep, restocking of office supplies, and client file management. Oklahoma Notary Public commission required after hire with application and bond expenses paid by the firm. Must be able to coordinate and communicate with firm staff in Alaska. May assist paralegals with legal support duties as follows: Prepares and finalizes legal documents and exhibits, correspondence, and internal memoranda; files pleadings federal courts and administrative agencies; records documents online in Oklahoma's various recording districts. Other relevant duties as assigned. Estimated hours: 5-6per day/20-30 hours per week; Core work hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Days are Monday through Friday. Hours and days can be flexible and negotiable. Negotiable fringe benefits include health care with partial subsidy by employer and other benefits (dental, vision, life ins., etc.) Sick leave and PTO negotiable. PLG recognizes most federal holidays and some state holidays, which are paid. This position is projected to go to full time in 2026-27. Must agree and pass background credit and criminal checks.
