Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and responsible Retail Store Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure full regulatory compliance, and lead a high-performing sales team. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of firearms laws and retail management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day retail operations and staff performance
- Lead, train, and supervise sales associates
- Ensure full compliance with all federal (ATF) and Massachusetts firearm regulations
- Review and approve all firearm transactions and required documentation (ATF Form 4473, MA FA-10/EFA-10)
- Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness at all times
- Manage inventory control, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Monitor store security, safety protocols, and loss prevention
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve escalated customer issues
- Schedule staff, manage payroll inputs, and maintain adequate coverage
- Track sales performance and implement strategies to meet revenue goals
- Maintain store appearance, merchandising, and operational standards
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of retail management or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Experience managing teams and retail operations
- Basic proficiency with POS systems and inventory software
- Must possess a valid and current Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC)
- Must be legally eligible to handle and sell firearms under federal and Massachusetts law
Compliance & Legal Requirements
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
- Must comply with all Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulations and Massachusetts firearms laws (M.G.L. Chapter 140)
- Responsible for ensuring store-wide compliance and proper execution of all firearm transactions
- Employee must maintain a valid MA LTC throughout employment
- Failure to maintain required licensing or compliance standards may result in termination
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in firearms, sporting goods, or regulated retail environments
- Knowledge of firearms, ammunition, and shooting sports
- Experience preparing for or managing compliance audits
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs
