Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Store Manager to support daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and help lead our retail team. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who can balance customer service, compliance, and team support in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in daily retail operations
- Supervise and assist sales staff during shifts
- Ensure all firearm transactions comply with federal and Massachusetts laws
- Assist with reviewing ATF Form 4473 and MA FA-10/EFA-10 submissions for accuracy
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with sales on the floor
- Help train and onboard new employees
- Assist with inventory control, stocking, and merchandising
- Maintain store organization, cleanliness, and security
- Handle customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary
- Act as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the Store Manager
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of retail or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer and POS system proficiency
- Must possess a valid and current Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC)
- Must be legally eligible to handle and sell firearms under federal and Massachusetts law
Compliance & Legal Requirements
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
- Must comply with all ATF regulations and Massachusetts firearms laws (M.G.L. Chapter 140)
- Must ensure accurate and compliant execution of all firearm transactions
- Employee is required to maintain a valid MA LTC throughout employment
- Failure to meet compliance or licensing requirements may result in termination
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in firearms or sporting goods retail
- Knowledge of firearms, ammunition, and related accessories
- Experience assisting with compliance or audit preparation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs
