- Position Overview:** The Commercial Painter is responsible for preparing and applying coatings to interior and exterior surfaces of marine vessels and associated equipment. This includes cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting using hand tools and equipment. The role requires adherence to industry best practices, safety protocols, and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers.
- Apply paint and coatings using air-assisted spraying equipment, brushes, and rollers, including non-skid applications.
- Operate and maintain painting-related hand and power tools.
- Assist with spray operations, including tending spray hoses and support paint shoots as needed.
- Work in various settings, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments with variable conditions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude when interacting with coworkers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Abide by all company policies and procedures, including mandatory use of timecards and sign-in sheets.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in marine or industrial painting (preferred).
- Proficiency in painting techniques and application methods.
- Familiarity with painting-related hand and power tools.
- Experience operating a pallet jack, forklift, and scissor lift.
- Ability to read and follow labels, safety guidelines, and instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to workplace safety.
