Electrical Engineer - Charlotte, NC | Hybrid
An established multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its growing team in Charlotte, NC. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of commercial and institutional projects alongside architects, engineers, and design professionals in a collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electrical system design for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead electrical system design for commercial and institutional projects
• Prepare calculations, specifications, layouts, and construction documents
• Support feasibility studies, facility evaluations, and cost estimating
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams
• Conduct site visits and assist during construction administration phases
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, IBC, IECC, and related codes/standards
• Maintain accurate project documentation and schedules
• Mentor junior engineering staff when required
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• 7-12 years of electrical engineering design experience
• Experience working on commercial, healthcare, education, civic, or institutional building projects
• Strong knowledge of NEC and related building codes
• Experience with power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems
• Strong communication and project coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• FE or PE certification
• Autodesk Revit (BIM) experience
• Experience with Bluebeam, ELUMtools, and/or VISUAL
• Previous experience within an MEP or A/E consulting environment
