Bookkeeper & HR Administrator
Plastic Design International is a manufacturing company seeking a highly organized and detail‑driven Bookkeeper & HR Administrator to manage daily financial operations and oversee essential human resources and compliance functions. This dual role supports a fast‑paced company of approximately 50 employees and requires someone who can balance accuracy and confidentiality. This position reports to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Manage vendor invoices processing & payments to vendors
- Monthly credit card reconciliations & bank reconciliations
- Journal entries & adjustments as needed to ensure accurate reporting
- Process weekly payroll
- Month end posting and closing, lock accounting periods and review statements for accuracy
- Support year end closing and work with external accounts
- Work closely with CFO and management team
- Maintain employee files and HR documentation
- Track attendance, PTO & performance review cycles
- Serve as point of contact for employee questions & HR support
- Support hiring and termination process
- Administer employee benefits including heath insurance & 401(k)
- Maintain workers comp policy records
- File & track workers comp claims
- Support annual workers comp audit
- Maintain OSHA related documentation
- Ensure compliance with CT & Fed labor laws
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 4-6 years of bookkeeping and HR Administration
- Strong understanding of payroll & HR compliance
- Excellent organizational & time management skills
- High attention to detail & accuracy
- Associate's or Bachelor degree preferred
- Familiarity with CT labor laws
- Meeting deadlines is critical
- Must be willing to learn new accounting software. We use a manufacturing ERP system (APTEAN DTR) that integrates manufacturing, job costing, supply chain, procurement, inventory and accounting
