Security Officer
Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania is hiring for a full-time (35 hrs per week), benefits-eligible Security Officer working primarily at our center city Philadelphia location.
Under the direction of the Director of Security, the Security Officer will develop and implement practices and procedures for the safety and security of all PPSP Facilities and events. Specific duties include:
- Provide a secure environment for employees, patients and visitors to PPSP, surgical sites, and as needed, health centers throughout the four-county service area.
- Provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all staff, patients and visitors. Including answering of phone at security desk.
- Complete Daily Activity Reports (DAR) by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillances and communicating such to Director of Security.
- Monitor access to the facility by strictly enforcing the staff photo ID and visitor badge policy.
- Screen visitors, vendors and guests before directing them to the correct area; this may include completing a visitor log; call appropriate department to confirm all appointments and direct all visitors.
- Check in patients while using a daily log sheet and directing patients to the appropriate area.
- Maintain a weekly list of all meetings, training programs and expected guests.
- Assist with emergency procedures and direct public safety officials as well as respond to emergency situations, e.g. issues of workplace violence, violent patients or protestors, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, crimes in progress, alarm notifications, etc.
- Accept mail and deliveries.
- Conduct security and criminal investigations as necessary.
- Conduct safety/security training for PPSP staff.
- Arrange for repair, inspection, and registration of security equipment at 1144 Locust Street and other PPSP surgical sites.
- Keep abreast of local criminal activity, anti-choice activity and political changes that could affect the security needs of the PPSP sites and PPSP staff.
- Adhere to OSHA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Must be certified under PA Act 235.
- High School Diploma and a minimum of two years’ experience in security/law enforcement required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must be assertive and comfortable dealing with diverse groups of people.
- Must have a strong understanding and commitment to excellent customer service.
- Must present a professional appearance and courteous manner.
- Must have demonstrated dependability and good judgment.
- Must be flexible to work Saturday and/or evening schedule.
- Must understand OSHA regulations.
Preferred:
- Health care security experience desirable.
- City of Philadelphia License to Carry
