Snapshot of key accountabilities of the Medical Assistant:

  • Conduct patient intake, including medical and social histories, and perform STI screenings and point-of-care testing.
  • Educate patients in a non-directive manner on birth control options and pregnancy-related services, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Ensure exam rooms are properly prepped and sanitized between patients and assist with basic clinical tasks and lab work in accordance with medical standards.
  • Provide excellent patient service aligned with Planned Parenthood’s values of respect, equity, and inclusion.
  • Accurately maintain patient records and documentation while upholding confidentiality and compliance standards.
  • Support the daily operations of the health center through cross-functional collaboration, flexibility, and accountability.


Experience/Education of the Medical Assistant:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.  
  • A minimum of one (1) years of relevant clinical experience as a Medical Assistant or equivalent.
  • Medical care and reproductive rights experience strongly preferred.  
  • Experience in dealing with the public.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of efficiency and accuracy.
  • The ability to learn ultrasound, procedural assistance and AB lab as well as other skill enhancements at the discretion of the affiliate. 
  • Must have a strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals and responsibilities of Planned Parenthood.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and sound decision-making skills.
  • Must have a commitment to efficiency and quality.
  • Must be comfortable when discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy options.
  • Ability to recognize and function appropriately in sensitive situations.
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Office suite is preferred.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Hourly compensation range for Medical Assistant: Starting at $18.00/ hour, commensurate with experience and local market conditions.
  • Eligible for all applicable benefits effective the first of the month following 30 days from your hire date.
