Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Contract Attorney to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for managing an increased volume of contract activity, including focused review, analysis, and processing for internal approval. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of contract law and be ready to jump into a fast-paced environment to support our legal and business operations and high technology acumen and familiarity with contract lifecycle management software and workflow management.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Review and Analysis: Conduct initial review and analysis of a variety of commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor agreements, service contracts, and standard form contracts.
Deviation Identification: Identify and flag non-standard terms, risks, or deviations from company playbooks and established policies.
Approval Process Management: Oversee the internal contract approval workflow, ensuring all necessary stakeholders (e.g., finance, procurement, senior legal counsel) review and sign off on documentation in a timely manner.
Documentation and Maintenance: Ensure accurate filing and maintenance of executed contracts and relevant documentation within the contract management system. Create and review reports to monitor workflow, volume and service levels
Legal Support: Serve as a primary legal escalation point for guidance from paralegal staff regarding contracts.
Preferred Skills
Management of paralegals or junior attorneys
Experience with a Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) software platform (e.g., Salesforce, Coupa, or dedicated legal CLM tool).
Prior experience in an in-house legal department or supporting a corporate environment.
A strong understanding of common commercial terms and conditions.
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership and good standing with at least one state bar.
1-5 years of legal experience (post-bar admission) with demonstrable experience or coursework in contract drafting, review, or management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on precision and clarity.
Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Pay ranges between 30-35/hr based on experience
